“Lord, You know that i have chosen evil over good, You know that I have betrayed You; Guilt lies upon me like a iron cloak. My soul is heavy and my burden is hard” Is this your heart’s cry? All of us have sinned against God. Isaiah 59:2 says, “Your iniquities have separated you from your God”. Sin hurts our Holy God and separates us from Him.
God is perfectly Holy and Righteous. He cannot tolerate sin. God hates sin but loves sinners. The forgiveness of sins requires the shedding of blood. Hebrews 9:22 says, “Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.” As Jesus shed His blood on the cross, the price for all our sins was paid and the wall of separation between us and God was torn down forever.
Our sins were washed away and it can no longer separate us from our Heavenly Father. Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus…” We can now freely come into the presence of God our Father through Jesus Christ our Lord and our Savior! He did it all for us! Hallelujah!
Jesus purchased God’s forgiveness on our behalf when He became the Lamb of God and died on the cross for us. Ephesians 1:7 says, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace”.
Acts 10:43 says, “Everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” Colossians 1:13-14 says, “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
1 John 1:8 says, “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” Yes, Christians do sin; but the Christian life is not to be identified with a life of sin. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Therefore when we stumble, we are called to confess our sins. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”. A Christian life should be a changed life and We should live a progressively more holy life giving heed to the voice of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. Shall we?
